Datuk Wira Roslan bin Abdul Rahman (“Datuk Wira Roslan”) was appointed to the Board as Independent Non-Executive Director of the Company on 1 July 2025. He is currently the Member of the Audit Committee, Nomination and Remuneration Committee, Risk Management Committee and Sustainability Committee of the Company.
Datuk Wira Roslan began his distinguished career in 1995 when he joined the Malaysian Civil Service. In 1996, he was appointed as a Foreign Service Officer (Diplomat), marking the start of a notable journey in international relations. He served as Malaysia’s Ambassador to Havana, Cuba, while concurrently accredited to the Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Nicaragua and Jamaica from 2018 to 2021. Prior to that, he was the Malaysian Ambassador to Baku, Azerbaijan, from 2014 to 2018. His last overseas assignment was the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Australia, a post he held until August 2022. He then served as the Deputy Secretary-General (Management Services) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs until 7 August 2023 before his appointment as the Secretary-General of the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry.
In the early stages of his career, Datuk Wira Roslan was the Consul-General of Malaysia in Guangzhou, China, from 2007 to 2010. In 2006, he also contributed as a Malaysian Peace Observer/Operations Officer for the Aceh Monitoring Mission (AMM) in Indonesia. His diplomatic foundation was further strengthened through assignments at the Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, and at the Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the United Nations (UN) in New York, United States. Between 1999 and 2002, he served as an alternate representative for Malaysia to the UN Security Council.
Throughout his tenure at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Datuk Wira Roslan held the position of Undersecretary of Finance and Accounts from 2014 to 2018. He worked across bilateral and multilateral divisions, including Southeast Asia and the South Pacific, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Commonwealth and the Disarmament Division.
Further to diplomatic career, Datuk Wira Roslan was appointed Secretary-General of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture from 8 August 2023 until 7 March 2025. Leveraging his extensive international experience, he drove transformative leadership in Malaysia’s tourism, arts and culture sectors. Under his stewardship, the Ministry recorded a remarkable tourism performance in 2024, with 38.0 million foreign visitors and a total tourism expenditure of RM107.2 billion. The arrival of these visitors increased by 31.1% compared to 2023.
Datuk Wira Roslan has also held key leadership positions including Malaysia’s Chair for the Senior Officials Committee for the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Council (SOCA), National Tourism Organisations (NTOs) for ASEAN and ASEAN + 3 (China, Japan, and South Korea), and India and Russia, as well as ASEAN Senior Officials on Culture and the Arts (SOMCA) and SOMCA + 3. These achievements demonstrated his leadership in revitalising the tourism and cultural industries, steering them back on track following the recovery phase from COVID-19 towards stability and strengthening.
Datuk Wira Roslan also served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Academy of Arts and Cultural Heritage (ASWARA), the Malaysian Handicraft Development Corporation (Kraftangan Malaysia), the Islamic Tourism Centre, and was a Board Member of the National Visual Arts Development Board (LPSVN), the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), and the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC).
