CLIMATE CHANGE

Our Commitment

MGB Berhad recognises that pollution from construction activities contributes to climate change, air quality degradation, and public health risks. We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint by adopting cleaner technologies, increasing energy efficiency, and minimising emissions from our operations in line with our Net Zero Carbon 2050 Roadmap.

Our Approach

We have already implemented multiple initiatives to reduce pollution beyond regulatory requirements:

  • Decarbonisation Strategy
Reduce diesel generators reliance with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to reduce Scope 1 emissions.

  • Renewable Energy Use
Rooftop solar systems installed at Nilai precast factory to reduce reliance on grid electricity.

  • Energy Efficiency
    Company-wide employee energy-saving campaigns.

Our Impact

Emission Avoidance from Solar Panel

  • 2024: 83.46 tCO2e
  • 2023: 10.14 tCO2e

WASTE MANAGEMENT

Our Commitment

MGB Berhad recognises construction waste as a critical environmental challenge and a key ESG priority. We are committed to embedding sustainable waste management practices across all project sites through our 6R Framework (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recover, Reflect) and ISO 14001:2015-certified Environmental Management System (EMS).

We have operationalised a Six-Tier Waste Management Hierarchy across all projects to minimise waste generation, increase recycling, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

Our Approach

  • Aluminium Formwork & BRC Mesh – high-reuse construction materials to cut down timber usage and reduce steel wastage.

  • On-Site Waste Segregation – clearly labelled bins for wood, metal, and general waste, monitored by trained waste officers.

  • ERP-Enabled Material Tracking – real-time monitoring of material inventory to prevent over-ordering and reduce excess stock.

  • Scheduled Waste Compliance – hazardous waste stored in DOE-approved areas and collected by licensed contractors.

  • Continuous Improvement (Reflect) – periodic audits, staff training, and corrective action plans to enhance performance.

Our Impact

Recycled waste increased from 254 kg (FY2023) to 425 kg (FY2024). No non-compliance cases recorded. Continuous audits drive year-on-year improvements.

BIODIVERSITY

Our Commitment

MGB Berhad recognises the intrinsic value of biodiversity in maintaining ecological balance and supporting community well-being. We arecommitted to avoiding and reducing negative impacts on biodiversity throughout our construction lifecycle, aligning with the UN SDGsand Malaysia’s National Biodiversity Policy.

Our Approach

  • Partnership with Local NGO

In August 2025, MGB strengthened its collaboration with Zoo Negara via the Grow Project and Malayan Tiger Adoption Programme, demonstrating meaningful engagement with local conservation organisations. 500 trees being successfully planted for this initiative
